Tidlig på 90-tallet studerte jeg i Japan, nærmere bestemt i Arimatsu, Nagoya. Her undersøkte jeg brette- og fargeteknikker. I 1996 tok jeg hovedfag ved Kunsthøgskolen i Bergen med fordypning i Itajime Shibori. Tradisjonelt er det tynne tekstiler som benyttes, men med en egen metode i en krafig ullkvalitet ble det et livslangt forløp. Først i svarte og hvite valører, men de siste årene med farge som startpunkt. I dialog med materialet finner jeg et punkt der det responderer og kommuniserer – gir et uttrykk tilbake. Støttet av observasjoner basert på erfaring innhenter jeg stadig ny kunnskap. Ideer og mening vokser parallelt som hånden arbeider.
